Fire Cider

It is no secret in our house; I love all the vinegars! When I discovered Fire Cider I was all in. My holistic brain was jumping for joy like nobody’s business! Now, when people hear “Fire Cider” they often think it’s an alcoholic drink. While that is a definite possibility for the name of a mixed drink, that is not what I’m talking about here. Ha!

Fire Cider is a wellness support supplement made from whole foods to help bolster your cell’s response. It is easy to make, effective, and (personally) I think it tastes great! To make it, you’ll need a large jar of sorts to let the cider steep for 6-8 weeks while it works its magic. Next, the ingredients. You want fresh, organic, or homegrown if at all possible – so you know what the growing conditions were, and what was or was not sprayed onto the plants. Lastly, the vinegar. I use raw apple cider vinegar with the mother. All that means is the vinegar still contains the good bacteria that was created during the fermenting process.

Enjoy! Let me know if you try it! I would love to hear what you think.

I add quite a bit to my Fire Cider: Jalapenos, onions, garlic, lemon, oranges, cranberries, elderberries, wolfberries, thyme, oregano, rosemary, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. You could certainly leave any of the ingredients out or add more in as desired. Then, you top it off with apple cider vinegar and let it steep for a minimum of 4 weeks. I like to go for 6 weeks or longer. Then, you strain it, bottle it, and voila! Your very own germ-fighting goodness in a bottle!

Morning Musings from a Homeschool Mom

This morning the kids were not interested in focusing – at all. I was getting angrier and angrier at having to repeat myself time and again. Finally, I said screw it and went outside to the barn to do chores before I said something I would regret later. Sometimes cleaning up crap (literally) is better than trying to fight an uphill battle of the wits with a pre-pubescent child. It was good to remove myself from the situation. I had to remind myself that a half hour isn’t going to set them behind. So I cleaned the barn, and I collected the eggs.

Now, it’s their turn to be outside. Fresh air does everyone good. They need to get their energy out so they can come back in and focus.

If you are overwhelmed today, if the day is just going to hell in a hand basket, give yourself grace. Go outside and take a few minutes for yourself. It is not selfish, it is not lazy, it is sometimes necessary.

Looking Forward to Spring

The days are getting longer, the birds have begun chirping and calling to each other in the morning as the sun prepares to peak over the hills, and I couldn’t be happier! It is no secret that winter is my least favorite season… much to the dismay of my husband because he absolutely LOVES the snow! 😅

I am looking forward to getting “back in the saddle” or rather, “back in the cart” – since you can’t ride a mini horse – and start exercising the minis again now that it’s starting to warm up. Wishing you all new adventures this spring!

Here’s to warmer days and mini horse cart rides. Enjoy this video from last year when it was warm enough to take the horses for a dip.
